Gilmore served five years as the Affiliate Relations Director at Lousiana Radio Network. He also produced the Jim Engster Show for three years and also assisted LRN Ag Director Don Molino before leaving the company in 2009.
Following his time at LRN, Gilmore was a popular on-air personality on the WTGE Tiger 100.7 in Baton Rouge.
Gilmore began his broadcast career in Columbus Georgia back in 1990 on the Top 40 Station WCGQ. He worked for several stations in that market through the 90s, doing Top 40, Country and Rock. James later became Operations Manager for a Rock/Sports cluster in Alabama.
Earlier this year, James was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by Louisiana Association of Broadcasters.
In 2016, James was diagnosed with a former of kidney cancer. He worked very closely with the American Cancer Society and in 2017 took part in the Real Men Wear Pink Fundraising Campaign where he helped raise thousands of dollars for the local chapter of Susan G Komen.
