KTCZ Cities 97.1 has announced it's bringing back Brian Oake to be its new weekday Morning Show host.
The radio veteran became one of the Twin Cities' best known DJs during his time at what was then Cities 97, serving as its afternoon drive-time host from 2001 before becoming the Morning Show co-host in 2012 alongside Keri Noble, reports bringmethenews.com.
His latest tenure at Cities started Monday, and going forward he'll be the host of the station's flagship 6-10 a.m. weekday slot.
He left in 2016 for Cities' local rival, The Current, in 2016, hosting "Oake and Riley in the Morning" alongside Jill Riley.
But he left The Current in abrupt circumstances in 2019, with American Public Radio confirming his departure but without providing a reason.
It came shortly after he posted a lengthy rant on Facebook detailing how he and his daughter were kicked out of a Tenacious D concert at the Palace Theater, apparently after his 20-year-old daughter took a sip of his drink.
After leaving The Current, he hosted his own podcast – The Brian Oake Show – and last year revealed that he spent 28 days receiving inpatient treatment after a "frightening 12-hour episode in an emergency room" as he suffered from alcohol withdrawal.
"I feel more clear-headed than I have in a long time. My body feels so much better. It's time to see what's next," he said last August.
