Effective Monday, February 24, WAMU 88.5 FM will implement a new programming schedule to provide listeners the best news and information coverage in this important election year.
According to a release, the schedule will provide the strongest possible listening and information experience for audiences. In order to bring a wider range of choices, we are eliminating some shows that air more than once. These program changes allow us to provide our weeknight audience with an array of credible journalism sources that our listeners know and trust.
The following program changes will be made:
- The World moves to Monday through Friday at 8 p.m., replacing the evening rebroadcast of 1A. 1A will continue to air live weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Evening listeners can hear 1A on its podcast and streaming at the1a.org.
- PBS NewsHour is new to the WAMU schedule. It debuts Monday through Friday at 9 p.m. WAMU is partnering with WETA to present a rebroadcast of PBS’s award-winning nightly news program for radio listeners.
- WAMU’s current 9 p.m. weeknight programs move to weekend timeslots. Those include The New Yorker Radio Hour, Hidden Brain, Reveal, Planet Money and How I Built This, and Tuesday-evening special programming.
- On Point expands to five nights a week to air Monday through Friday at 10 p.m. The Friday edition of On Point is hosted by NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik.
- Studio 360 ends production in February.
- Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang will debut Saturday weather reports starting February 29 during NPR’s Weekend Edition.
