Rob Shervill |
Rob Shervill delivered his final newscast of his award-winning career last week, as he heads into retirement.
Shervill, who joined AM800 in January 1991, also served as news director and assistant news director along with his duties as morning news anchor.
The London, Ont. native was honoured on multiple occasions by the Radio and Television News Directors Association for both his excellence in newscasting and his news commentaries.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens recognized Shervill on behalf of the city for his years of service, highlighting his level of integrity, commitment to excellence in journalism and trusted voice in the morning, calling him 'the Peter Jennings of Windsor.'
Peter Langille |
Unfortunately, Langille missed a step going down the stairs at home last week, landing on his left leg, shattering his ankle and damaging his knee.
He required surgery on Thursday and had seven screws put into his ankle.
Langille has worked at the radio station for 22 years and many listeners would be surprised to learn he commuted every day from his home near Sarnia, ON to Windsor.
He says he has worn out four to five vehicles during his long commutes and his current vehicle has more than 500,000km on it.
