Tulsa Radio: Two Electrocuted At KRMG-AM Transmitter Site

Tulsa County, O Sheriffs say they were called to the KRMG 740 AM Transmitter Site in Sand Springs around 10 o’clock this morning.

According to the KRMG website when they arrived they found two individuals who had appeared to have been electrocuted.

One of the individuals died in the incident the other has been taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Deputy Justin Green said the men likely were attempting to steal copper from the tower at 5801 S. 265th West Ave. and were shocked in the process, reports The Tulsa World.

Green said an engineer went to check on an interrupted signal about 9:40 a.m. Sunday and found the men, one dead with wire pliers in his hand and the other severely burned and convulsing on the ground.

Cox Media Group Tulsa Market Vice President Cathy Gunther has released this statement:

“Early this morning two individuals broke into the KRMG AM transmitter site. It appears they attempted to access a building through a conduit and were electrocuted. One of the individuals is deceased and one was transported to the hospital. From the tools and materials found at the site, it appears that they were attempting to steal copper.

"The safety of our community is of utmost importance – please do not enter any transmitter site, for any reason, as the area is extremely dangerous."
