NYC Radio: Michael Kaye To Enter NYSBA Hall of Fame
Michael Kay, host of The Michael Kay Show on WEPN ESPN 98.7 FM New York, will be inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Association’s Hall of Fame for 2018.
Kay is the host of 98.7FM’s The Michael Kay Show, is the voice of the New York Yankees and is the host of CenterStage for the YES network. Kay will be honored on Thursday, October 18, at the Jacob Javits Center.
Kay said, “I am extremely humbled by this honor, to stand alongside the others that have been inducted to this prestigious hall is somewhat surreal for a kid from the Bronx who started out in this business as a Newspaper man. I thank those who voted for me it is greatly appreciated.”
Tim McCarthy, senior vice president of ESPN Radio Group, commented, “Michael has been the Cornerstone of ESPN radio New York since our inception. From my days working with Michael at WABC when he was the radio voice of the Yankees, he has been nothing but the ultimate professional and a great friend. “
The New York State Broadcasters Association represents the interests of over 300 television and radio stations in the New York State Assembly, the United States Congress, and various other legislative bodies. Induction into the Hall of Fame is the highest award given by the NYSBA. Kay joins a prestigious list of legendary broadcasters, which includes Walter Cronkite, Barbara Walters, Mike Wallace, Marty Glickman, Regis Philbin, Al Roker, and William Paley, who have made significant contributions to the broadcasting profession and the communities they have served.
