The State of the Union Address is always a high rated event for CableTV news channels. According to early Nielsen ratings, about 8 million viewers tuned in to watch the address on the big 3 cable news networks, down approximately 10 percent from last year's 9 million.
FOX News was the most watched cable news network, with 3.47 million total viewers ahead of CNN (2.56 million) and MSNBC (1.99 million).
In the key cable news adults 25-54 demographic, CNN edged out its rivals with 1.02 million adults 25-54 viewers, ahead of 0.83 million for FNC and 0.47 million for MSNBC
