Radio Talker Rusty Humphries Starts 'Rebellion'

Rusty Humphries
The Washington Times has announced that Rusty Humphries will have an expansive role with The Times as a weekly columnist, a blogger and a daily video-show host.

Mr. Humphries’ appointment is part of The Times’ aggressive expansion into the many platforms that comprise a modern media company. The audio from Mr. Humphries’ video show will also be streamed on the Kaliki-based, on-demand network that was recently established in partnership with The Times.

“I’m excited to become part of the Washington Times family,” Mr. Humphries said. “I am proud to add my voice and my ideas to the excellent work that the Times has been producing for decades.”

“Rusty is a rare and special talent,” said John Solomon, The Times’ editor and vice president for content and business development. “We are thrilled to have his wisdom and his good humor as part of our growing menu of offerings.”

Until it ended its long run last October, Mr. Humphries’ radio show was the sixth most listened-to talk-radio show in the U.S., according to Talkers Magazine. Mr. Humphries has been named one of America’s 100 most important radio talk show hosts 12 years in a row and was nominated as Talk Personality of the Year by Radio and Records.

He was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame as its youngest inductee ever. He will appear in two upcoming movies: “Love by Design” with Jane Seymour and “Atlas Shrugged — Who Is John Galt?” the third in a series of films based on the Ayn Rand novel.

Mr. Humphries is also a singer/songwriter. In addition to writing more radio morning-show jingles than anyone alive, his song, “Do the Bart Simpson,” made national charts.
