NYC Radio: Salem Is Movin’ On Up

Salem Communications is on the move in the Big Apple.  The company has announced plans to relocate its two stations from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ into the 22,152 sq. feet just vacated by WOR 710 AM.

Studios and executive officers for Salem’s WNYM 970 AM The Answer and religious WMCA 570 AM New York’s Christian Talk are moving into 111 Broadway during the next several weeks.  The site is located next door to the Trinity Church in Manhattan, blocks from ground zero.

Transmitter locations will remain in New Jersey.

WOR recently moved into the building used by the rest of the Clear Channel cluster.

WOR's Mark Simone
Salem is getting special tax incentives offered to businesses that move into lower Manhattan near the World Trade Center.

Spoken Word Format VP Phil Boyce said, "Salem has a major commitment to winning in New York and this move will help us take both stations to the next level. We know for years great radio came out of this building when it housed WOR and now we have the opportunity to continue that tradition with both WMCA and AM 970 The Answer. As an added plus, WMCA, known as New York's Christian Talk, will be re-locating next door to historic Trinity Church, founded in 1697,  as the oldest church in New York City.”

Salem’s Market VP/GM Jerry Crowley will be reclaiming the same office he used when we was WOR’s GM.

The move marks a return to Manhattan for WMCA, which moved to New Jersey in 1989.
