The last song on the old WRXP was "Long Live Rock" by The Who, followed by a legal ID:
"WRXP. WRXP-HD, New York. 101.9 FM... New."
The ID was voiced by three different females. Then, the new 101.9 FM started airing music with an occasional jingle with a female voice stating: "101.9 FM...NEW". They also aired some "women in the street" type interview drops. Showbiz news, fashion & family seem to be the focus.

That was one hell of a read-up with those names talking up "Bittersweet Symphony", which itself was a fitting choice as the song for Brian Drelio's final talk break on RXP (and not just because of the song's long instrumental intro). RIP 101.9 WRXP.
ReplyDeleteAs an addendum, after hearing the Q101 goodbye, I think "Tonight Tonight" by the Smashing Pumpkins and "Friday I'm In Love" by The Cure were two great songs to play to end the Q101 era on 101.1 in Chicago.
