Fans of “Real Rock Radio” KSHE 95 FM turned out in large numbers for one of the nation’s largest and longest running blood drives - the 34th Annual KSHE Summer Blood Drive, held on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7, 2018 in St. Louis.
More than 2,000 donors participated in the two-day event, held in nine locations across the St. Louis metropolitan region.
Everyone who attended receive the limited-edition KSHE Summer Blood Drive T-shirt and automatic entry into a drawing for 9 pairs of tickets to see the Foo Fighters on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis. (One pair of tickets will be awarded from each of the nine locations.) KSHE 95 announced the Foo Fighters ticket winners on their social media pages.
Stats from the 2018 KSHE Summer Blood Drive are as follows:
- 2,376 donors
- 2,194 red cells
According to Amanda Hess, Director, Donor and Public Relations for MVRBC, “KSHE is an event where people bring in their families. It is a generational phenomenon and we had a lot of donors present with their parents, grandparents, children and siblings.”
KSHE 95 Promotion Director Kristen Lewis agrees, adding, “Many donors that give at the KSHE drives have been doing so for decades. Yet at each drive we also see hundreds of brand new donors. These loyal KSHE listeners tend to give at both the Summer and Winter KSHE drives.”
The KSHE Summer Blood Drive was first held in 1984 to support the blood supply during this critical time of year. Since that time, the KSHE listening audience has become a reliable base of support for the blood supply during the summer and holiday season. Nearly 4,000 listeners participate in the July and December blood drives every year.
