R.I.P.: North Carolina Radio Personality Frank Jones

Frank "Hollywood' Jones
North Carolin radio personality Frank 'Hollywood' Jones died Friday afternoon, according to whkp.com.

Heard often on station WTZQ 1600 AM in Hendersonville, NC, hosting gospel and country music programs, appearing on station "remote"  and on-location broadcasts, Frank "Hollywood" Jones had, over the years, become a favorite of local radio listeners.

In a conversation Saturday morning with WHKP's Charles Hayes, WTZQ General Manager Mark Warwick said Jones had fallen sometime back and had suffered a series of other falls in recent days.

He was finally persuaded by his wife to go to the hospital for tests this past week.  Hayes says he was told by Warwick that Jones and his wife were told early Friday afternoon by physicians that he was suffering from bone cancer.  Jones and his family were discussing possible treatent options Friday afternoon, and Jones is said to have passed away about a half hour after being told about the bone cancer.
