Gayle King's tenure at CBS Mornings is increasingly precarious as the show grapples with poor ratings and accusations of bias.
Former President Donald Trump amplified these concerns in a Monday Truth Social post, reposting a New York Post article quoting a source who claimed King’s job is at risk. "Gayle King's career is over," Trump wrote. "No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!"
Well-placed sources familiar with the situation told Daily Mail that King, 70, faces a critical juncture as her contract nears its May expiration.
One source indicated that CBS News’ new owners, following Paramount’s impending acquisition by Skydance, are "most likely" to let King go.
Another source acknowledged her departure as probable but noted that discussions are ongoing.
CBS insiders also spoke to Fox News, addressing speculation about Skydance CEO David Ellison—son of billionaire Larry Ellison, a known Trump supporter—potentially ousting King as co-host.
One staffer revealed that network leadership has begun grooming Adriana Diaz, a current CBS Mornings correspondent, as a potential successor to King if her contract is not renewed. Other names floated as possible replacements include Tony Dokoupil, King’s current co-anchor, who could take a more prominent role, and Norah O’Donnell, a seasoned CBS anchor, though her availability remains uncertain due to her existing commitments.
