Diddy Trial: Shorter Day Saw 'Freak-off' Evidence Presented

Day 25 of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex-trafficking and racketeering trial in New York, key testimony and events unfolded, as reported by multiple sources. The trial, centered on allegations that Combs orchestrated a criminal enterprise involving coerced sexual activities known as “freak-offs,” saw significant developments:

Special Agent DeLeassa Penland, a U.S. Attorney’s Office special agent, continued her role as a summary witness, presenting evidence related to alleged “freak-off” events. The jury was shown extended excerpts of videos allegedly depicting these encounters, retrieved from Cassie Ventura’s laptop. Jurors, Combs, and lawyers viewed the footage privately with headphones, while public monitors were darkened to prevent leaks. The videos were longer than brief clips shown previously, though their exact content was not disclosed publicly.

Penland reviewed records, including hotel invoices and travel itineraries, to corroborate the prosecution’s timeline of “freak-offs” from 2009 to 2017. These included a $46,000 hotel damage charge linked to one event. She was restricted from drawing inferences about the events, focusing solely on document details due to defense objections.

Text messages between Combs and Ventura were presented, including one from Ventura referencing a 2016 assault at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles, stating, “I have a black eye and a fat lip,” and noting her upcoming film premiere. Combs’ unanswered calls and messages to Ventura post-incident, such as “You gonna abandon me all alone,” were also shown.

The court adjourned early, with testimony resuming the next day (June 18, 2025). U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian threatened sanctions against attorneys for a potential evidence leak, reflecting heightened tensions over trial publicity.
