Cincy Radio: Bill Cunningham Vows Friday Return To WLW

WLW's Bill Cunnigham
N/T WLW 700 AM afternoon host Bill Cunningham was feeling great. So hearing the doctor say he needed heart surgery came as a shock, according to cincinnati.com.

“Oh my God, is that me?” he recalls thinking when his cardiologist showed him images of his failing heart valve. “He said without surgery, you’ve got three months to live.”

The 71-year-old Cunningham successfully underwent a procedure to implant a new aortic valve through his femoral artery on April 4. He was home the next day, tweeting to his nearly 13,000 Twitter followers:

He's planning to return on-air this Friday.

In the meantime, he’s been on the air via phone with small doses of his trademark banter and biting commentary that have made him a local and national media personality.
