BFA Launches Annual Holiday Giving Campaign

The Broadcasters Foundation of America, the unique nationwide charity that provides aid to broadcasters in acute need, has launched its 2015 Holiday Giving Campaign in support of its Annual Year-End Appeal for donations to the Guardian Fund.  This year’s appeal is posted on the Foundation’s website, and can be read it its entirety here.

The annual campaign asks broadcasters to spread the word about the mission of the Broadcasters Foundation to those who may need its assistance, and encourages donations to the Guardian Fund by clicking here or by calling 212-373-8250.

“The Broadcasters Foundation makes it possible for ill or elderly broadcasters to continue their life-sustaining medications or for their families to remain in their homes,” explains Phil Lombardo, Chairman of the Broadcasters Foundation.  “Many of us in broadcasting have much to be grateful for, and I urge every broadcaster to take an accounting of their blessings and consider helping our colleagues through a charitable donation to the Broadcasters Foundation.”

Over the past 65 years, the Broadcasters Foundation has distributed millions of dollars in aid to hundreds of broadcasters who lost their livelihood through a catastrophic event, debilitating disease, or unforeseen family tragedy.  Last year, the Foundation dispersed almost $850,000 in life-sustaining grants.

“Requests for aid continue to pour in every day,” said Jim Thompson, President of the Broadcasters Foundation.  “Our goal is to help as many of these broadcasters as possible.  We hope that this giving time of year will inspire donations to help our colleagues.  Individual contributions to the Guardian Fund have ranged from $50 to $50,000, and every amount helps our mission.”

In addition to individual donations to the Guardian Fund, corporate contributions can are accepted through the Angel Initiative and bequests can be made through the Foundation’s Legacy Society.   For more information, please visit www.broadcastersfoundation.org, or call 212-373-8250.
