TV Ratings: TODAY Is The No. 1 Morning Show


NBC News’ TODAY is the #1 morning show across the board for the week, leading in total viewers, A25-54, and A18-49, while extending its dominant streaks versus both ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS Mornings.

TODAY ranked #1 in total viewers for the 16th consecutive week and secured its 27th weekly win of the season. The broadcast also delivered its 15th straight week of year-over-year total viewer growth, its longest such streak since August 2011, while posting the largest gains versus both the prior week and prior year among morning shows.

Season-to-date, TODAY remains the top morning program across all key metrics, delivering its strongest competitive advantages in years.

Total Viewers:
  • Leads GMA by +115,000 (largest advantage in 14 years)
  • Leads CBS by +1.151 million (largest advantage in 11 years)
  • Up +5% (+147,000) vs. last season — the biggest growth among morning shows
  • A25-54: Leads GMA by +129,000
  • Leads CBS by +331,000 (largest advantage in four years)
TODAY is on pace to rank #1 in A25-54 for the 11th consecutive season, while delivering its largest share of the morning demo audience in 15 years (44.4%).



Meanwhile, “Good Morning America” averaged 2.892 million Total Viewers, 467,000 Adults 25-54 and 334,0000 Adults 18-49 for the week of May 4, 2026, based on Live+Same Day Big Data Plus Panel Program Ratings from Nielsen Media Research.
  • For the fourth straight week, “GMA” saw year-to-year gains in Total Viewers (+4% – 2.892 million vs. 2.791 million) and Adults 18-49 (+15% – 334,000 vs. 291,000).
  • “GMA” (2.892 million, 467,000 and 334,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Mornings” (1.834 million, 303,000 and 205,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+1.058 million), Adults 25-54 (+164,000) and Adults 18-49(+129,000). In addition, “GMA” led “CBS Mornings” in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 for the last 1,425 weeks overall — since w/o 1/18/99.
