Atlanta-based Cumulus Media announced it has sold its 97.9 translator signal to Radio Training Network, which is based in Lakeland, Florida. Once the FCC clears the deal, 97.9 will become the Joy FM, a Christian pop station.
As part of these changes:
- OG, ATL’s Classic Hip Hop, will move from 97.9 FM to 98.9 FM. OG will also shift from WWWQ-FM/HD3 to WWWQ-FM/HD2.
- 99X (WNNX-FM) will continue to air on 100.5 FM and will discontinue its simulcast on 98.9 FM and WWWQ-FM/HD2.
- Until the sale of the 97.9 FM translator is finalized, Cumulus Atlanta will temporarily simulcast OG on both 97.9 FM and 98.9 FM.
Cumulus Media owns and operates four powerful audio brands across its radio and digital platforms in Atlanta, including: New Country 101.Five/WKHX-FM (Country); 99X/WNNX-FM/HD (Classic Alternative); Q99.7/WWWQ-FM (CHR); and OG 98.9/WWWQ-FM/HD2 (Classic Hip Hop).
