President Trump claimed Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show declined after Stern endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump remarked he hadn’t heard Stern’s name in years, recalling their past friendship and his appearances on Stern’s show.
When Real America’s Voice correspondent Brian Glenn mentioned rumored salary disputes between Stern and SiriusXM, Trump attributed Stern’s loss of audience to the Clinton endorsement, saying, “People said, ‘Give me a break.’”
Stern’s $500 million, five-year contract with SiriusXM is believed to be nearing its end, and the 71-year-old host’s future is uncertain. The US Sun reported Stern is open to a short-term deal but is also considering retirement.
Stern, who returned for a surprise episode on Tuesday, announced he’d resume his regular schedule on September 2 without addressing his potential exit.
At its peak, Stern’s show, relaunched in 2006 and renewed in 2020, drew 20 million daily listeners. Trump and Stern, once close, attended each other’s weddings, but their relationship soured after Stern’s 2016 endorsement and his 2022 comment about running against Trump in 2024.
