| Ron McCary |
For nearly 20 years, KMJ listeners tuned into his familiar voice on 580AM/105.9FM, delivering news, traffic, and filling in as anchor for the AG Report. On Saturdays, he provided news updates and joined the lively banter on The Auto Shop Talk show.
According to a posting on the KMJ website, McCary was a former English teacher, and his historical knowledge and mastery of language enriched KMJ’s newsroom, often correcting colleagues’ grammar with a smile.
He began his broadcasting career in 1969 at KFIG, joined KMPH in 1997, and moved to KMJ in 2007.
Born December 5, 1945, in Fresno, Ronald Edward McCary was a true native. A McLane High School and Fresno State graduate, he served in the U.S. Army, taught at Fowler High School, and retired as a substitute teacher in 2018.
