NJ Radio: Among Beasley Layoffs...Terrie Carr OUT At WDHA-FM

Terrie Carr

Terrie Carr, a prominent radio personality, departed from 105.5 WDHA in Morristown, New Jersey, after a 30-year tenure as Program Director and Midday Host.

Carr revealed she was informed of her termination through a brief one-minute phone call, stating her services were no longer needed in both roles.

This departure was part of broader layoffs at Beasley Media Group, which also affected other talented team members, including promotion and production staff, as well as Debbie Mazella, Program Director at WMGQ (Magic 98.3) in New Brunswick, NJ.

Carr, known for her deep passion for rock music and community engagement, described WDHA as "The People's Station," emphasizing her efforts to foster connections among listeners, artists, and advertisers.

She created several successful initiatives, including Rock N' Ruff (focused on pet adoption), Queens of Noise, Reconnect With Rockers (featuring artist interviews), Roundtable, Parking Lot Parties, and a calendar initiative.

Her midday show, airing from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, was a staple for rock fans, featuring the All Request Lunch Hour and Box of Rock interviews with prominent rock artists like Judas Priest and Alter Bridge.

Colleagues, such as Jim Monaghan, praised her as “the most passionate and committed” person he had ever worked with in radio, highlighting her dedication to her audience, co-workers, and the station.

Carr’s career at WDHA included two stints: an initial 15 years under Greater Media, during which she served as Program Director for six years, followed by a brief period at Press Communications’ WHTG (2007–2009) and Sirius, before returning to WDHA in 2010. She also hosted nationally syndicated radio specials and appeared on TV shows and live rock events.

In 2017, Beasley Media Group signed her to a multi-year deal, solidifying her role at WDHA until the recent layoffs.
