| Bobby Sherman (1944-2025) |
Bobby Sherman, a late-1960s teen idol known for his roles in Here Come the Brides and hit songs like “Little Woman” and “Julie, Do Ya Love Me,” passed away Tuesday, at the age of 81.
His death followed a battle with stage 4 kidney cancer, which his wife, Brigitte Poublon, announced in March 2025.
Poublon confirmed his passing in a heartfelt statement shared via John Stamos’ Instagram, noting that Sherman died at their home in Encino, Los Angeles, holding her hand. She described their 29-year marriage as filled with love and highlighted Sherman’s courage and humor until the end.
“It is with the heaviest heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Bobby Sherman,” wrote Brigette Poublon Sherman. “Bobby left this world holding my hand—just as he held up our life with love, courage, and unwavering grace through all 29 beautiful years of marriage. I was his Cinderella, and he was my prince charming. Even in his final days, he stayed strong for me. That’s who Bobby was — brave, gentle, and full of light.”
Sherman’s cancer had spread extensively, and by April 2025, Poublon reported his body was “shutting down,” with him sleeping more and expressing a desire to return home from the hospital. Despite his condition, he remained responsive to fan letters read by Poublon, which lifted his spirits.
Tributes emphasized Sherman’s legacy as both an entertainer and a public servant. After his teen idol fame, he left show business in the 1970s to become an EMT and a reserve police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, later serving as a deputy sheriff in San Bernardino County. He was named LAPD Reserve Officer of the Year in 1999. Sherman and Poublon also founded the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation in 2011, supporting education and music programs for children in Ghana.
Fans and peers, including Stamos, expressed grief on social media, with posts on X reflecting sadness and nostalgia for Sherman’s impact as a heartthrob. His music and TV roles, along with his later humanitarian work, left a lasting impression.
