ABC News Fires Correspondent Terry Moran

ABC News announced it had parted ways with veteran correspondent Terry Moran, two days after suspending him for a social media post on X that violated the network’s policies on objectivity.

In the now-deleted post, Moran harshly criticized President Donald Trump and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, calling them “world-class haters” and describing Miller as “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred” and operating on “bile” rather than “brains.”

The post, made early Sunday, June 8, 2025, prompted swift backlash from Trump administration officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who demanded accountability.

ABC News initially suspended Moran, stating the post violated its standards of impartiality and did not reflect the network’s views. On Tuesday, ABC confirmed it would not renew Moran’s contract, citing the post as a “clear violation of ABC News policies.”

The network emphasized its commitment to “objectivity, fairness, and professionalism” in journalism. Some ABC staffers expressed shock and disappointment, with anonymous sources telling outlets like Fox News and The New York Post that Moran’s actions damaged the network’s credibility and fueled perceptions of media bias. Others called for his firing, arguing the suspension was insufficient.
