Three Doors Down Brad Arnold Discloses Cancer Battle

Brad Arnold, the 46-year-old frontman of Three Doors Down, has announced via a joint Instagram post with the band that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 clear cell renal carcinoma, a form of kidney cancer that has metastasized to his lungs.

The “Kryptonite” singer shared that he sought medical attention after feeling ill weeks ago, leading to the devastating diagnosis. “It’s not real good,” Arnold acknowledged, but he expressed unwavering optimism, rooted in his faith, stating, “We serve a mighty God, and He can overcome anything. I have no fear.”

Clear cell renal carcinoma, which accounts for about 80% of adult kidney cancer cases, is named for the appearance of its cells under a microscope, according to the National Cancer Institute. Treatments include surgery, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies like radiation. While the five-year survival rate is up to 69% for early-stage cases, it drops to approximately 10% once the cancer spreads, making treatment more challenging.

Arnold’s diagnosis has forced the cancellation of Three Doors Down’s summer 2025 tour, for which he apologized to fans. Despite the prognosis, he remains resolute, asking for prayers and referencing the band’s 2008 hit “It’s Not My Time,” with lyrics like, “This could be the end of me / And everything I know / But it’s not my time, I’m not going.” He encouraged fans to “lift me up in prayer every chance you get” as he prepares for treatment, emphasizing his determination to face the battle ahead with courage and hope.
