IN/MI Radio: Mid-West Taps Tom Nankival For VP/Sales

Mid-West Family Broadcasting has announced Tom Nankival has been appointed Vice President of Sales for its Indiana and Michigan operations, specifically overseeing the South Bend and Southwest Michigan markets. Nankival assumed the role on May 2, 2025, and is tasked with leading sales efforts across these regions, which include radio stations such as Sunny 101.5 (WNSN), Z94.3 (WZOC), Live 99.9 (WQLQ), WSBT Radio, and various digital and event brands.

Nankival brings extensive experience in the radio industry, having held multiple roles over his career. Most recently, he served as General Manager and General Sales Manager at Clarke Broadcasting in Sonora, California. Prior to that, he was General Sales Manager for La Crosse Radio Group in Wisconsin and Saga Communications in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He also held General Manager positions with Adams Radio Group in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and with Saga Communications in Springfield, Illinois, and Des Moines, Iowa.

Nankival expressed enthusiasm about joining Mid-West Family, stating, “I’m thrilled at the opportunity to join the great group of broadcasters at Mid-West Family. Having competed against them in a couple markets, I can tell you it’s better to be with them than against them.”

Mid-West Family Broadcasting, an independently owned company based in Madison, Wisconsin, operates 41 radio stations across seven markets: Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Madison, Wisconsin; Rockford, Illinois; Springfield, Missouri; St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, Michigan; and South Bend, Indiana. The South Bend and Southwest Michigan clusters include stations like News/Talk/Sports 94.9 WSJM, ROCK 107 WIRX, 98.3 The Coast, and Sunny 101.5, alongside digital platforms like MoodyOnTheMarket.com and events such as Radio Super Saver.

The appointment follows a leadership restructuring announced in February 2025, where Dave Doetsch, former General Manager of the South Bend and Southwest Michigan markets, was promoted to Chief Operating and Revenue Officer. Nankival’s role fills a critical gap in sales leadership for these markets, aligning with Doetsch’s oversight of company-wide revenue development.
