TV Ratings: New Will Cain Show Surges FOX News 94 Percent


During the week of January 27 - February 2, FOX News Channel (FNC) continued to lead all of cable television with primetime and total day viewers, while soaring to control the top 677 cable news telecasts post-election. 

In primetime (8-11 PM/ET), FNC scored 3.1 million viewers and 399,000 in the 25-54 demo, commanding all of cable with viewers. 

In total day (6AM-6 AM/ET), FNC posted 2.1 million viewers and 271,000 in the 25-54 demo. FNC’s daytime program America Reports with Sandra Smith and John Roberts from 1 – 3PM/ET beat ABC’s The View with viewers for the week.

The Five was the most-watched show in cable with 4.6 million viewers and has now reached over 4 million viewers for the 11th consecutive week. For the week, The Five averaged 4.6 million viewers and 513,000 in the 25-54 demo, leading cable with viewers. 

At 6 PM/ET, Special Report with Bret Baier drew 3.5 million viewers and 413,000 in the 25-54 demo. The Ingraham Angle saw 3.5 million viewers and 427,000 in the 25-54 demo at 7 PM/ET. At 8 PM/ET, Jesse Watters Primetime delivered 4.2 million viewers and 533,000 in the 25-54 demo, leading cable news with younger viewers. At 9 PM/ET, Hannity posted 3.5 million viewers and 452,000 with A25-54. At 11 PM/ET, FOX News @ Night secured 2.4 million viewers and 379,000 in the 25-54 demo.

FNC’s newest program The Will Cain Show at 4 PM/ET averaged 2.8 million viewers and 304,000 in the 25-54 demo. The program has driven FNC’s ratings up 94% with viewers and doubled the network’s 2024 4 PM/ET average in the 25-54 demo.


At 10 PM/ET, FNC’s late-night offering Gutfeld! secured 3.4 million viewers and 468,000 with A25-54. Gutfeld! once again topped the broadcast competition including CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (1,847,000 P2+; 287,000 A25-54), ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (1,533,000 P2+; 260,000 A25-54) and NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (1,193,000 P2+; 294,000 A25-54).

FNC also saw a number of its daytime programs outrank the broadcast competition including ABC’s The View. Most notably, America Reports with Sandra Smith and John Roberts (weekdays, 1-3 PM/ET; 2,634,000 P2+) led ABC’s The View (2,621,000 P2+). Outnumbered (weekdays, 12-1 PM/ET; 2,605,000 P2+), Harris Faulkner’s The Faulkner Focus (weekdays, 11 AM/ET; 2,508,000 P2+), The Story with Martha MacCallum (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 2,472,000 P2+) and America’s Newsroom (weekdays, 9-11 AM/ET; 2,376,000 P2+) all led CBS This Morning (2,131,000 P2+), NBC’s Today Third Hour (1,976,000 P2+) and ABC’s GMA3 (1,452,000 P2+) with viewers.

On Saturday: The Big Weekend Show (weekends, 6-8 PM/ET) was the most-watched show of the day with 2.2 million viewers, while FOX News Live (Saturday, 10 AM - 2 PM/ET) led in the 25-54 demo with 286,000 viewers. Life, Liberty & Levin (Saturday, 8 PM/ET) led in primetime commanding 2 million viewers. One Nation with Brian Kilmeade (Saturday, 9 PM/ET) followed with 1.9 million viewers.

On Sunday: Maria Bartiromo’s Sunday Morning Futures was the top show of the weekend with 2.4 million viewers and 290,000 in the 25-54 demo. The Big Weekend Show followed with 2.2 million viewers and Life, Liberty & Levin led in primetime with 1.9 million viewers.

“World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the evening’s No. 1 newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (8.304 million), Adults 25-54 (1.137 million) and Adults 18-49 (761,000) during the week of Jan. 27, 2025, based on Live+Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.“World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (6.926 million, 1.093 million and 731,000, respectively) by 1.378 million Total Viewers, by 44,000 Adults 25-54 and by 30,000 Adults 18-49.
  • “World News Tonight” widened its Total Viewers gaps over “NBC Nightly News” versus the prior week (+25% – 1.378 million vs. 1.106 million) and the year-ago week (+3% – 1.378 million vs. 1.336 million).
  • “World News Tonight” stood as the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (8.304 million) on all of broadcast and cable.
  • “World News Tonight” was up over the prior week in Total Viewers (+3%/+204,000 – 8.304 million vs. 8.100 million), drawing its second-largest audience in 1 year — since w/o 1/22/24, behind only the week of “WNT”’s coverage of the Los Angeles wildfires three weeks ago. “WNT” stood as the only evening newscast to grow its overall audience week to week.
  • “World News Tonight” saw increases on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+3%/+222,000 – 8.304 million vs. 8.082 million) and Adults 25-54 (+4%/+41,000 – 1.137 million vs. 1.096 million).


  • For the week, “World News Tonight” (8.304 million, 1.137 million and 761,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (4.812 million, 688,000 and 442,000, respectively) by 3.492 million Total Viewers, by 449,000 Adults 25-54 and by 319,000 Adults 18-49.
