Telemundo Death Suspect Known As 'The Hustler of Bourbon Street'

It will be another three to four weeks before the autopsy report is completed for the 27-year-old Telemundo reporter found dead in his New Orleans hotel room, police announced on Saturday. This comes a day after the arrest of a woman known for drugging and robbing men, in connection with his mysterious death.

Career criminal Danette Colbert, 48, from Slidell, was arrested after surveillance footage showed her exiting Adan Manzano's hotel room before allegedly using his credit card at various stores in New Orleans, where Manzano was covering the Super Bowl, according to Kenner police.

Deputy Chief Mark McCormick told The NY Post that they are still awaiting toxicology reports from the coroner. "Everything hinges on that one point," he said. "Until we get that information, there won’t be any basis for more severe charges against Danette Colbert."

So far, Colbert has only been charged with property crimes, including bank fraud and theft. However, she has previously been accused of drugging at least two men and stealing their credit cards, Kenner police reported.

The Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office is currently conducting toxicology tests to see if Manzano was drugged, as his body showed no visible signs of trauma.

Known as "the Hustler of Bourbon Street," Colbert was seen on video leaving Manzano’s hotel room in Kenner before embarking on an alleged shopping spree, according to police.

Colbert was arrested in New Orleans Thursday night and is still in custody. Conley said depending on the coroner's findings and the ongoing investigation, more charges could be pending.

Surveillance footage shows that Colbert arrived with Manzano at the hotel around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, leaving alone shortly after, McCormick confirmed earlier in the week.

Manzano, from Topeka, Kansas, was discovered deceased approximately 12 hours later when hotel staff conducted a welfare check after he missed a scheduled morning appointment.

Manzano worked for Tico Sports and Telemundo Kansas City (KGKC), which described him as a "true professional and rising star who exemplified excellence in his work."

"We will deeply miss Adan and his passion for sports, and the contributions he made to the local community," the TV station said. "Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time."

"Adan was a talented and professional broadcaster, providing sideline coverage for the Kansas City Chiefs Spanish broadcast and play-by-play caller for the KC Current. He was an enthusiastic and energetic team player who was well liked and respected," Tico Sports said in a statement.

In a heartbreaking turn, Manzano’s 24-year-old wife, Ashleigh Boyd, had died in a car accident in Topeka in April, leaving their toddler daughter without parents.
