FOX News Marks 30-Weeks Leading Cable TV


During the week of July 29 - August 4, FOX News Channel (FNC) marked 30 consecutive weeks leading all of cable television with viewers. FNC also led cable with primetime viewers for the ninth straight week. 

 In terms of the cable news competition, FNC once again outpaced CNN and MSNBC combined in all categories, reaching double- and triple-digit advantages across the board, marking the 181st consecutive week that it has been cable news' most-watched network across total day. In primetime (8-11 PM/ET), FNC earned 2.3 million viewers and 273,000 in the 25-54 demo, commanding all of cable with viewers.

In total day (6AM-6AM/ET), FNC posted 1.4 million viewers and 188,000 in the 25-54 demo. The Five was the top show of the week, securing 3.3 million viewers. Year-over-year FNC was up double digits in total day and primetime, while CNN and MSNBC saw declines across all categories. Additionally, FNC delivered 53% share with total day viewers and 56% with primetime viewers across cable news.


For the week:
  • The Five averaged 3.3 million viewers and 319,000 in the 25-54 demo, making it the most-watched show of the week with viewers. 
  • At 6 PM/ET, Special Report with Bret Baier drew 2.4 million viewers and 252,000 in the 25-54 demo. 
  • The Ingraham Angle saw 2.6 million viewers and 298,000 in the 25-54 demo at 7 PM/ET. At 8 PM/ET, Jesse Watters Primetime delivered 3 million viewers and 360,000 in the 25-54 demo, making it the highest-rated show of the week in the 25-54 demo. 
  • At 9 PM/ET, Hannity posted 2.6 million viewers and 340,000 with A25-54. 
  •  At 10 PM/ET FOX News Channel’s Gutfeld! averaged 2.4 million viewers and 326,000 in the 25-54 demo, as the broadcast competition was off for the week. 
  • At 11 PM/ET, FOX News @ Night secured 1.4 million viewers and 208,000 in the 25-54 demo.


FNC also saw a number of its daytime programs outrank the broadcast competition. Most notably, Outnumbered (weekdays, 12 PM/ET; 1,781,000 P2), The Faulkner Focus with Harris Faulkner (weekdays, 11 AM/ET; 1,738,000 P2+), America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino (weekdays, 9-11 AM/ET; 1,721,000 P2+), The Story with Martha MacCallum (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 1,612,000 P2+) and America Reports with Sandra Smith and John Roberts (weekdays, 1-3 PM/ET; 1,603,000) all outpaced ABC’s GMA3 (1,211,000 P2+).

On Saturday: The Big Weekend Show (weekends, 7 PM/ET) was the most-watched show of the day with 1,759,000 viewers and 199,000 in the 25-54 demo. Life, Liberty & Levin (weekends, 8 PM/ET) nabbed 1,665,000 viewers. FOX News Saturday Night with Jimmy Failla (Saturday, 10 PM/ET) posted 1.1 million viewers and 153,000 in the 25-54 demo leading the competition combined.

On Sunday:  Maria Bartiromo’s Sunday Morning Futures (Sundays, 10 AM/ET) was the most-watched show of the entire weekend with 1,656,000 viewers and 195,000 in the 25-54 demo. Life, Liberty & Levin (weekends, 8 PM/ET) was the top show in primetime with 1,651,000 viewers. Sunday Night in America (Sundays, 9 PM/ET) posted 1.5 million viewers and 160,000 in the 25-54 demo.
