TV Ratings: Fox News Channel Tops All Of Primetime TV


During the week of July 8-14, FOX News Channel (FNC) led all of television with both primetime viewers beating out the broadcast competition and posting its highest rated weekend in network history.

FNC was also number one in basic cable with both viewers and A25-54 across primetime and total day. Additionally, FNC once again outpaced CNN and MSNBC combined in all categories seeing its highest cable news share for the week since 2015. 

In primetime (8-11 PM/ET), FNC earned 3.9 million viewers and 566,000 in the 25-54 demo, commanding all of cable with viewers. In total day (6 AM-6 AM/ET), FNC posted 2.1 million viewers and 293,000 in the 25-54 demo, outpacing all of cable with viewers. 

In primetime, this was FNC’s most-watched week with viewers since the week of the 2020 election and its largest audience in total day since the start of the Russia/Ukraine war in 2022. 

Week-over-week FNC saw the highest-growth with viewers across primetime and total day seeing a 51% gain in total day and 89% gain in primetime compared to the week before.

Incorporating all airings:
  • The Five averaged 3.4 million viewers and 322,000 in the 25-54 demo. 
  • At 6 PM/ET, Special Report with Bret Baier drew 2.8 million viewers and 317,000 in the 25-54 demo. The Ingraham Angle drew 3.2 million viewers and 390,000 in the 25-54 demo at 7 PM/ET. 
  • At 8 PM/ET, Jesse Watters Primetime delivered 3.9 million viewers and 482,000 in the 25-54 demo, its highest-rated week since launch. 
  • At 9 PM/ET, Hannity posted 4.2 million viewers and 629,000 with A25-54, making it the highest-rated show in cable news. 
  • At 11 PM/ET, FOX News @ Night secured 1.8 million viewers and 277,000 in the 25-54 demo.At 10 PM/ET, FNC’s late-night offering Gutfeld! saw its most-watched week since launch with 2,719,000 viewers and 364,000 in the 25-54 demo. 


Gutfeld! also topped a number of broadcast programs with both viewers and A25-54 including CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (1,863,000 P2+; 274,000 A25-54), NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (1,289,000 P2+; 269,000 A25-54) and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! (1,075,000 P2+; 221,000 A25-54).

FNC also saw a number of its daytime programs outrank the broadcast competition. 
  • Most notably The Story with Martha MacCallum (weekdays, 3 PM/ET; 2,440,000 P2+) and America Reports (weekdays 1-3 PM/ET; 2,344,000 P2+) topped ABC’s The View (2,237,000 P2+) with viewers.
  • America’s Newsroom (weekdays, 9 -11 AM/ET; 2,040,000 P2+), Outnumbered (weekdays, 12 PM/ET; 1,815,000 P2+) and The Faulkner Focus (weekdays 11 AM/ET; 1,761,000 P2+) all outpaced NBC’s TODAY with Hoda and Jenna (1,358,000 P2+) and ABC’s GMA3 (1,307,000 P2+).

FOX News Channel’s breaking news coverage of the attempted assassination of former President Trump led all of television across the board over the weekend. 
  • Posting its highest-rated weekend ever, FNC delivered 6.9 million viewers and 1.4 million in the 25-54 demo in primetime on Saturday leading all of television. 
  • When the assassination attempt occurred during the 6 PM/ET hour, FNC averaged 4.1 million viewers and 748,000 in the 25-54 demo and its coverage peaked during the 8 PM/ET hour anchored by Shannon Bream and Bill Hemmer with 7.7 million viewers and 1.6 million in the 25-54 demo. 
  • During total day, FNC averaged 2.6 million viewers and 503,000 in the 25-54 demo. Throughout breaking news coverage from 6-9 PM/ET saw 6.4 million views and 1.3 million in the 25-54 demo.
  • On Sunday, FNC averaged 4.5 million viewers and 664,000 in the 25-54 demo during primetime. During the 8 PM/ET hour when President Biden gave his Oval Office Address to the nation, FNC nabbed 5.6 million viewers and 818,000 in the 25-54 demo. Throughout total day, FNC averaged 3 million viewers and 474,000 in the 25-54 demo leading all of television throughout Sunday.
