CenPA Newspaper Cuts Print to Two Days A Week

The Centre Daily Times has announced that it is changing its print schedule. The newspaper, which is based in State College, announced on Friday that it is transitioning to a 24/7 digital news operation with a two-day-a-week print edition beginning June 17.

The two newspaper editions will be delivered each week on Wednesday and Saturday by U.S. mail.

The newspaper edition that will be delivered on Saturdays is what the Centre Daily Times refers to as its Sunday edition. That change was made last year. The newspaper said that copies of the Sunday edition will be available at retail locations.

The publication’s electronic edition known as the “Edition” will continue to be published seven days a week at CentreDaily.com and in its digital application.

The Centre Daily Times has been published for 126 years and covers Centre County, which is home to Penn State University.

“We plan to be here for decades to come, but to do that it’s critical that we adapt to the digital world. Increasingly, Centre County residents get their news from their phones, tablets and computers,” Jessica McAllister, executive editor of the Centre Daily Times, said in a message to readers. “With that trend in mind, we’ve become much more digitally focused and have intensified that approach to where readers of CentreDaily.com or our Edition often see our best work before print readers. Since last year, our Edition has often included stories that were published after our print deadline or that appear in print at a later date.”
