Westwood One Launches 'Today In Women's Sports'


Cumulus Media’s Westwood One will launch a new two-minute feature entitled “Today in Women’s Sports” beginning Monday, March 18, 2024. The new feature will cover the athletes, coaches, teams, and sports that have contributed to the explosive worldwide growth of women’s athletics in recent years. A rotating cast of trailblazing women in the sports broadcasting business will highlight the headlines, highlights, and storylines.

With 60 seconds of content followed by a 60-second network commercial, the feature will be available for affiliates to air each weekday between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. each weekday, local time.

“Today in Women’s Sports” will include a rotating line-up of notable sports broadcasters. Among the hosts will be:


  • Laura Okmin, the third longest tenured sideline reporter in NFL history, covers the league for the NFL on FOX and Westwood One’s NFL national radio games. She has covered more than 20 Super Bowls, hosted three Olympics, reported from multiple World Series, and covered numerous NBA and NHL championships. An Emmy Award-winner, Okmin mentors young women entering the sports world and offers media training for sports executives.
  • Maggie Gray co-hosts the “Maggie & Perloff” morning show on the CBS Sports Radio Network, a must-listen program covering top stories and the latest in sports, with Andrew Perloff. Gray previously co-hosted a Saturday morning show and afternoon drive with CBS Sports Network. Gray also worked with SI.com and was a host, reporter, and play-by-play announcer for the MSG Network, ESPN-U, and MLB.com.
  • Olivia Harlan Dekker is a sideline reporter for the NFL on Westwood One Sports, ESPN College Football, and Big Ten Network basketball. With her father Kevin Harlan as play-by-play announcer and Olivia as sideline reporter, both for Westwood One, the Harlans mase history when they became the first father-daughter duo to call an NFL game together.
  • Amber Theoharis hosts Westwood One’s fantasy football show, “NFL Fantasy Forecast.” She is also currently the sports anchor and host of various programs for the Las Vegas Raiders. Best known for her work as host for the NFL Network, Theoharis also has hosted shows for Fox Sports and SiriusXM. In addition, she was a sports anchor and reporter for the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. Theoharis produced the 2020 documentary, “The Weight of Gold,” which was co-executive produced by Michael Phelps and aired on HBO.
  • Amy Lawrence is a well-traveled veteran and pioneer of sports radio and television who hosts CBS Sports Radio's late-night program “After Hours with Amy Lawrence.” The show can be heard weekdays from 2:00-6:00 AM, ET on the nation's largest 24/7 major-market radio network.
