Several local radio stations will soon be under new ownership as a longtime broadcaster is announcing his retirement.
Dave Crooks, President of DLC Media, said he's ready to slow down and knock some items off his bucket list, according to WTHI-TV.
He has worked at and owned various radio stations in Indiana and Illinois throughout his 44-year career. He was also state representative for Indiana's 63rd district from 1996-2008.
Crooks plans to sell three of his stations, WAXI-FM 104.9 in Rockville, Ind., and WAKO-FM 103.1 and WAKO-AM/W257DW 99.3 in Lawrenceville, Ill., to 3 Towers Broadcasting.
3 Towers Broadcasting owns other radio stations and digital newspapers in Indiana. The company is also interested in continuing DLC Media's time brokerage agreement with Vincennes University Foundation's radio station, WFML-FM 96.7.
Crooks' three other stations, WVIG 105.5 in West Terre Haute and WFMB 92.7 and WAMB AM 1130 in Brazil, will be sold to JKO Media, Inc. JKO Media, Inc. currently operates 105.9 WMMC in Marshall, Ill.
Crooks said JKO Media will lease DLC Media's current downtown Brazil radio center and will have the first option to purchase it.
The Federal Communications Commission will determine the expected date of both ownership transfers. Crooks speculated it could be as soon as May 1.
