Houston Radio: Audacy Stations Raise $100K+ for Literacy Foundation

Audacy Houston raised over $100,000 for the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation during the 4th annual Giving Week campaign.

The campaign, in support of one of the Foundation’s signature programs, My Home Library, raises funds to provide home libraries to economically disadvantaged children in Houston. Audacy Houston, the Foundation and Audacy Houston stations Mix 96.5 (KHMX-FM), 100.3 The Bull (KILT-FM), 95.7 The Spot (KKHH-FM), Sports Radio 610 (KILT-AM) and Mega 101 FM (KLOL-FM) led the campaign from September 18 to September 22.

“Through the power of community and compassion, we’re delighted to help provide a brighter future for underserved children,” said Sarah Frazier, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy Houston. “We are proud to support the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation in their critical mission once again.”

“Empowering children with books in their home is one of the most powerful and proven strategies to increasing childhood literacy rates and fostering a lifelong love of reading,” said Julie Finck, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. “We are deeply grateful to Audacy Houston and its stations for the incredible commitment of airtime and talent to raise visibility for our important cause and much-needed funds for us to serve even more children across greater Houston.”

With support from the Houston community and corporate sponsors, this year’s campaign will provide home libraries of six new books each to more than 3,500 underserved children. Returning sponsor Phillips 66 pledged a $25,000 lead gift, and Reliant Energy and new sponsor The Galleria generously matched contributions made by the community during the campaign of up to $10,000 each.

The Foundation’s My Home Library is a solution to home libraries being out of reach for economically disadvantaged children. Through My Home Library, children can create a wish list of books that donors can fulfill. The Foundation is on track to distribute its one-millionth book in December 2023.
