Wake-Call Up: Trump Indictment Could Come Today

Former President Donald Trump has not been formally notified about whether Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg plans to bring charges against him, sources familiar told Fox News Digital, amid speculation of a possible imminent indictment. There remains a real chance that Bragg does not choose to indict the former president. At least one more witness is expected to appear before the grand jury when it convenes Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Manhattan. It is unclear at this point who the witness or witnesses are. Grand jury deliberations and votes are secret proceedings, and an indictment typically remains under seal until an arraignment.

If an indictment is brought, Trump’s attorneys would immediately be notified. If indicted and notified, Trump's attorneys would be able to begin negotiating the terms of a court appearance with the Manhattan district attorney’s office. An indictment, if brought, could come as early as Wednesday, a source told Fox News, adding that the earliest Trump could appear in court if charged would be next week. If indicted, the U.S. Secret Service and the New York Police Department would discuss how the former president would surrender.

➤IRONY..DeSANTIS COULD BE IN A POSITION TO SIGN TRUMP'S ARREST WARRANT: If a New York grand jury indicts Donald Trump in connection with hush money payments to Stormy Daniels, it could deliver another twist to the bitter rivalry between the former president and his likely rival for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. For if Trump refuses to travel from his Mar-a-Lago home to surrender voluntarily to police in Manhattan, it would fall to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to sign a local arrest warrant. The situation may be hypothetical but it is one of the potential scenarios that could play out if the nation enters the uncharted territory of a former president — and a current presidential candidate — being indicted.

➤DeSANTIS RIPS TUMPS' 'LACK OF CHARACTER':  Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has finally taken the gloves off and launched a blistering attack on his former mentor President Donald Trump. In an exclusive wide-ranging interview Piers Morgan airing on Fox Nation on Thursday, he said “stay tuned” about his widely expected announcement that he’s running for president and declared: I have what it takes to be president and I can beat Biden. But it’s what he said about Trump that will ignite a firestorm in the Republican Party. For months, DeSantis has said nothing as Trump’s escalated his verbal attacks on him, branding his ex-protégé “Ron DeSanctimonious” and “Meatball Ron.” On Monday, Trump went nuts after DeSantis took a shot at him over his anticipated indictment over alleged payoffs to ex-lover Stormy Daniels, saying, “I don’t know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair.”

➤XI CALLS PUTIN 'MY DEAR FRIEND': China's President Xi Jinping was due to depart Moscow on Wednesday after a grandiose display of solidarity with Russian President Vladimir Putin against the West, but without offering direct support for Putin's war in Ukraine. During his two-day visit Xi barely mentioned the Ukraine conflict and said on Tuesday in final remarks that China had an "impartial position". Responding to the Xi-Putin meeting, the White House said China's position was not impartial and urged Beijing to pressure Russia to withdraw from Ukraine's sovereign territory in order to end Europe's biggest conflict since World War Two.

➤RUSSIAN SOLDIER'S ENTIRE 300-MAN BATTALION 'SLAUGHTERED' IN ASSAULT ON UKRAINIAN VILLAGE: A Russian private has claimed he was one of just three soldiers left standing from his 300-man battalion following a failed assault on a small Ukrainian village. Andrei, not his real name, told his friend Ivan, also not his real name, that he had witnessed his entire battalion being slaughtered while trying to take over Avdiivka, a small town on the outskirts of Donetsk, Ukraine.

➤U-S MAY STEP IN TO PROTECT DEPOSITERS AT MORE BANKS: Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said Tuesday that the federal government could step in to protect depositors at additional banks if regulators see a risk of a run on the banking system. Ms. Yellen delivered remarks at a gathering of the American Bankers Association in Washington as she and other federal officials try to shore up confidence in the U.S. banking sector after the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. Ms. Yellen and other federal regulators used emergency powers to guarantee uninsured deposits at SVB and Signature, while also setting up a new Federal Reserve lending program to allow banks to meet withdrawal requests.

➤SILICON VALLEY BANK NOT SURE IF REGULATORS WILL COVER LOSS: The former owner of Silicon Valley Bank, seized earlier this month by regulators, will need to wait, possibly for several months, to know if it can get back about $2 billion in cash it would need to repay bondholders and other creditors.  SVB Financial Group won provisional court approval Tuesday to spend only a fraction of the cash the company claims federal regulators must return. What happens with the rest of the money will need to be decided in the coming months, with lawyers for bondholders owed more than $3.3 billion saying they are concerned that the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. will try to keep the cash. The FDIC’s decision to lock down the $2 billion “creates jeopardy” in the bankruptcy case, said Tom Lauria, a lawyer representing a large bondholder, Appaloosa LP.

➤UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT REFUSES TO HOST DRAG SHOW ON CAMPUS: Walter Wendler, the campus president of West Texas A&M University, criticized drag shows as an event that demeans and diminishes women while canceling an event on campus. Wendler sent out an email to the school on Monday announcing that the college would not be hosting a planned drag show charity performance titled "A Fool’s Drag Race" on Mar. 31. The performance was originally meant to raise money for the transgender crisis management non-profit organization The Trevor Project. While Wendler supported donating money to the organization itself, he denounced drag shows as demeaning to women under the subject headline "A Harmless Drag show? No Such Thing."

➤GWYNETH PALTROW HEADS TO COURT IN UTAH FOR 2016 SKI ACCIDENT TRIAL: Gwyneth Paltrow appeared in court on Tuesday (March 21st) to defend herself against retired optometrist Terry Sanderson over an alleged ski accident that took place at the Deer Valley Ski Resort near Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2016. According to court documents, Sanderson claims Paltrow’s skiing was “out of control” as she hit him in the back, “knocking him down hard, knocking him out, and causing a brain injury, four broken ribs and other serious injuries.” He originally sued Paltrow for $3.1 million, but a judge ruled that he can only seek $300,000 in damages. The Shakespeare in Love actress is denying Sanderson’s claims. Instead, she says he was the one who crashed into her on the slopes, causing her to experience a “full ‘body blow.’” The Goop founder is seeking $1 in damages in her counterclaim suit, with the addition of legal fees. She believes Sanderson’s lawsuit is “an attempt to exploit her celebrity and wealth.” The trial is expected to continue through the end of March.

CREW MEMBERS BELIEVE THEIR PLANE WAS INTENDED TO BE USED ON 911: The pilot and three crew members of United Flight 23 told TMZ INVESTIGATES: believe their jet was intended to be used in the 9/11 attacks. According to the crew members there was a burka-clad man sitting in first class with a group of three other Arabs. This group of passengers became irate when takeoff was delayed, demanding for the jet to get airborne as it sat at the gate. United 23 was taxiing to the runway at JFK ahead of its flight to Los Angeles at 9am when all flights at the New York airport were grounded after planes started hitting the World Trade Center.

After the plane was evacuated, the FBI came aboard to investigate. They found four hatches in the floor of the main cabin open - despite the crew leaving them closed and the jet being locked up. The FBI refused to reveal to the pilot, the crew or the filmmakers whether any of the passengers had ever been traced after they departed the plane.

➤17M PEOPLE AFFECTED BY SOGGY WEATHER:
The latest burst of heavy, wind-blown rain and snow churned out of the Pacific into California on Tuesday, triggering scattered floods and mudslides, uprooting trees and leaving thousands of storm-weary residents under evacuation orders. The newest onslaught, arriving early on the second official day of spring, was concentrated mostly in Southern California, the state's central coast and its agricultural heartland, still sodden from a relentless string of storms that began in late December. High-wind warnings and advisories were posted for a vast area stretching from the Mexico border through Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay area. Winter storm warnings were in effect for high mountains, with several feet of snowfall forecast.

The National Weather Service (NWS) also issued flood watches across a region of more than 17 million people, including most of greater Los Angeles and a large swath of western and central Arizona.
