A news helicopter zoomed in on the Washington Football Team's facility and revealed a banner with the name 'Commanders' on it, all but confirming it to be the football team's new name ahead of a planned reveal on Wednesday.
A chopper for WRC-TV4 in Washington, DC flew above the building Tuesday evening and got the scoop on the team's new name.

It comes after Joe Theismann, a former quarterback for the team, inadvertently announced the new name during an interview with Damon Amendolara on CBS Sports Radio on Monday. In July 2020, The Washington NFL franchise announced that it would drop the 'Redskins' name and logo, bowing to years of protests and decades of criticism that they are offensive to Native Americans.
Thiesmann, 72, let the new name slip earlier this week. 'I think the Commanders is a name that is going to be one that hopefully people like going forward,' he told CBS Sports Radio.
'There were so many different options, but once again it's trademark infringement - it's getting approval from different people. If you choose a name, is there a group out there that isn't going to like it?'
