NBCUniversal said former Hulu chief Kelly Campbell would become president of Peacock, a year-old streaming platform that parent company Comcast Corp. is looking to build into a powerhouse, reports The Wall Street Journal.
The move comes after Campbell resigned on Monday from her role as president of Walt Disney Co. ’s Hulu streaming service.
Campbell will start in November and will report to Matt Strauss, chairman of NBCUniversal’s direct-to-consumer and international division, the company said Wednesday.

Campbell had been with Hulu since 2017, when she first joined as chief marketing officer. She served as president for the past 21 months. She joined Hulu after 12 years at Alphabet Inc.’s Google, where she had leadership roles across Google Ads and Google Cloud businesses.
During its most recent quarterly earnings, NBCU said Peacock has reached 54 million signups and 20 million monthly active accounts. The overall signup tally is up from the 42 million subscribers that the company reported its fledgling streaming service had reached by the end of March. That’s well ahead of targets, as Comcast had previously projected Peacock would have up to 35 million subscribers by the end of 2024.
It is not clear how many people are actually paying for one of the streaming platform’s two premium tiers, since NBCU does not break those out. The Wall Street Journal reported in May that the service has only 10 million paying subscribers.
