The CBS Evening News with Norah O'Donnell is the only network evening news broadcast to grow year-over-year in adults 25-54 (+13%), according to CBS citing Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending August 20.
According to the network, The CBS Evening News delivered 4.8 million total viewers and 972,000 in adults 25-54, the demographic most important to those who advertise in news.
While the CBS Evening News posted year-over-year demo gains, its competitors saw declines: “ABC World News Tonight” was down -5% and “NBC Nightly News” was down -12%.
The CBS Evening News also grew week-to-week in both categories, up +12% in adults 25-54 and +2% in total viewers. The broadcast ranked #1 on the CBS Television Network in total viewers every day last week and was CBS’ #1 show in adults 25-54 on Monday and Tuesday.
