R.I.P.: Mike Manley, Longtime Chico CA Morning Host

Mike Manley, a nearly 30-year Chico radio personality who hosted the popular morning show “Manley in the Morning” for the past 20-years on KMXI The Mix 95.1, died Wednesday night.

He was 58, reports chicoer.com.

Dino Corbin, general manager of Deer Creek Broadcasting, said Manley’s loss was like losing a member of the family.

“He has entertained and woken up with thousands of listeners over the years and has done incredible and wonderful things in our community,” Corbin said. “He was simply the pure essence of a broadcaster. He didn’t have any family, we were his family. He loved what he did every single day.”

Dozens of dedicated community listeners commented on the loss of Manley with heavy hearts as they said goodbye to their favorite morning host. One listener, Rhonda Glenn Johnson of Oroville, said “I feel like I have lost a friend. I laughed with him every morning on the radio.”

“He was big and full of life and full of smiles. Everybody that was around him felt comfortable and enjoyed being with him,” Corbin said. “Every single day was a special day when Mike Manley was in the building.”
