NYC Radio: Public Radio Fires Media Host For Bullying

Bob Garfield

New York Public Radio sacked the co-host of “On the Media” after an investigation found he violated the station’s anti-bullying policy, the station announced on Tuesday, The NY Post reports.

Bob Garfield, co-host of the media analysis program, is out at the station after a probe by an outside investigator found he violated the policy, the statement said.

A 2020 investigation also found Garfield violated the policy and the station took disciplinary action, issuing a warning of “potential consequences if the behavior continued, and a meaningful opportunity to correct it.”

“We recognize Bob’s contributions to our industry and our listeners,” the statement said.

“We also affirm NYPR’s commitment to providing an inclusive and respectful environment for our employees, guests and listeners.

The co-host fired back in a post on social media.

Garfield was a co-host of “On the Media” since 2001, his website bio said. He had previously spent 12 years correspondent for National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered.”
