R.I.P.: Tedd Webb, Longtime Tampa Radio Personality

A week after announcing that he was entering hospice care, retired Tampa radio personality Tedd Webb has died.

He was 72, according to The Tampa Bay Times.

Webb announced that Friday would be his last day on dialysis. He passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a post on his Facebook page, which said he was surrounded by family when he died.

“We’re finalizing plans for times and places to pay tribute, and will announce those plans here when we are ready,” reads the post. “We ask for continued privacy for our family.”

Webb, whose real name was Henry Ruiz, broke into radio when he was 14, reporting on sports at Jesuit High while still attending classes there as a student. He was on local radio for more than 50 years, which ended as a voice for right-wing politics.
