Providence Radio: N/T WPRO Tackles Opiods

In honor of National Recovery Month, NewsTalk WPRO 99.7 FM & 630 AM, The Voice of Southern New England, announces a day of broadcasts aimed at confronting the Opioid Crisis, and how it affects Rhode Island and Southern New England.

Enough: WPRO’s Opioid Awareness Day airs on Friday, September 13th, starting at 6am during The News with Gene Valicenti, and runs through The Tara Granahan Show, The Matt Allen Show, The Dan Yorke Show, and The Gresh Show.

“As the opioid crisis continues to threaten the state of Rhode Island, WPRO understands that we have a responsibility to use our voice and our platform to discuss this terrifying epidemic,” states WPRO and CUMULUS MEDIA Market Manager Holly Paras. “I am proud to be part of a station that understands this responsibility and is bringing this difficult but critically important conversation to the community.”

WPRO and its programs have partnered with many of Southern New England’s most trusted organizations and businesses to bring listeners personal stories of addiction and recovery, information about city and state programs designed to help, and the physical and physiological effects of opioids which lead to the addiction.

Guests will include former Boston Celtics player Chris Herren, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo and First Gentleman Andy Moffit, mental health advocate and former Congressman Patrick Kennedy, recovery advocate John Tassoni, leaders from industries affected by the crisis, first responders, and more.

WPRO thanks its partners in this project – BHLink.net, BuildRI, Alkermes Pharmaceuticals, Lincoln Prevention Coalition & Lincoln Police Department, and CharterCare Health Partners.

Enough: WPRO’s Opioid Awareness Day airs on Friday September 13th on NewsTalk 99.7 FM & AM 630 WPRO.
