Ryen Russillo EXITS ESPN

Ryen Russillo
Ryen Russillo is teaming up with Bill Simmons to create content for his multimedia site, The Ringer, the pair announced Monday, according to USATodaySports Business Journal first reported the news.

Simmons and Russillo worked together at ESPN years ago when the former wrote columns and eventually led the culture site Grantland, while Russillo mostly appeared on radio and some television.

Russillo, who had previously left ESPN in December 2017, re-signed a deal last August with the network to host his The Russillo Show podcast, while also doing a football podcast on The Ringer. Now, his work will exclusively appear on The Ringer and he'll join the site full time.

"This is not an anti-ESPN move," Russillo told SBJ. "It’s a pro-Ringer one. I have wanted to pursue other things for a while, and Bill gave me this opportunity."

The podcast, called "Dual Threat", will be released three times a week during football season and twice a week during the offseason. He'll also regularly appear on Simmons' podcast and other Ringer projects.
