Indy Radio: WNDE Loses FM Simulcast, New Format Coming
Indianapolis sports fans who get their Fox Sports radio fix along with the rest of their FM stations will have to re-adjust to AM radio, reports the Indy Star.
A format change is on the way for 97.5 FM, an iHeartMedia station that has long served as a simulcast of the local Fox Sports radio lineup on 1260 AM that includes Rush Limbaugh from noon to 3 p.m. and Query & Schultz from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Dave Hill, iHM's senior vice president of programming for Indianapolis, said that other than losing 97.5 FM as an option, nothing else will change for Fox Sports Radio. He said the current shows and schedules will remain the same.
The focus now is making sure that faithful WNDE listeners know about the change, and that they can listen to their shows on 1260 AM, or on iHeartRadio's digital platforms.
It's unclear when the new direction for 97.5 FM will be revealed, but Hill said more information is coming soon.
"Very shortly a new format will be debuting on the 97.5 frequency," Hill said. "The only thing I can say at this point is stay tuned."
In the meantime, a looped message will play on 97.5 FM instructing listeners to switch over to 1260 AM.
