Comscore’s CEO and President Exit in Major Shakeup
Comscore Inc. Chief Executive Bryan Wiener is leaving the media measurement firm after less than a year because of disagreements with the board over the execution of the company’s strategy, reports The Wall Street Journal.
President Sarah Hofstetter, who joined six months ago, will also leave the company as part of a leadership shake-up.
Dale Fuller, a board member, will become interim CEO. Irwin Gotlieb, former Chairman at WPP’s GroupM, will join the board, along with Social Finance, Inc.’s chief marketing officer Joanne Bradford and founder of Motherwell Resources LLC Kathi Love.
“I ultimately chose to leave as the Board and I had irreconcilable differences over how to execute the company’s strategy,” said Mr. Wiener in an emailed statement. “I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished in such a short period of time, and believe the company is strategically positioned to continue to take advantage of the rapidly evolving media marketplace with a core focus on advanced TV, and I wish its loyal employees, clients and investors well.”
Hofstetter said she was aligned with Wiener’s strategy and therefore also decided to resign.
Comscore confirmed the departures and said that it plans to conduct a search to replace Wiener, but has no plans to fill the role left vacant by Hofstetter.
Comscore tracks local TV viewership and audiences for digital publishing and digital ads. It also measures and analyzes box-office results.
Based on preliminary results, the company also announced today that first quarter 2019 revenue is expected to be between $100 million and $104 million.
Comscore expects to announce its first quarter 2019 earnings results in the first half of May, at which time the company will host a conference call to discuss its results and provide a progress report on the company’s long-term vision and growth strategy.
