The son of a longtime Nashville radio and television host has died in a suspected storm-related crash.

Mark Bilbrey, 39 years old, was killed in crash during the height of the storms in Davidson County, according to Fox-TV17.

Metro Police say Bilbrey was driving his Subaru Forrester on Davidson Drive, likely in heavy rain. His vehicle left the right side of the road and collided with a culvert, then struck a concrete support column of the I-40 overpass. Bilbrey was wearing a seat belt, but died at the scene overnight Monday.

Mark's dad, Keith Bilbrey, is well-known in Music City. Keith is a former Grand Old Opry announcer and former mid-day host at WSM-AM, the Grand Ole Opry station. He hosted the mid-day show at WSM-AM radio for about 30-years.

"I have no words words to explain the pain I am feeling today," Keith penned in a Facebook post. "My oldest son, Mark, was taken from this earth in a one car accident during the height of the last night’s storm. I ask for prayers for all of us during this time."

Keith is currently the studio announcer for the Mike Huckabee show and studio announcer for Music City Roots, a weekly celebration of Americana music that airs on Public Television. Keith is also an announcer on Larry’s Country Diner, a country music themed show that airs weekly on RFD-TV.
