Salem Media Names New GMs For Philly, Nashville

Salem Media Group announced a number of appointments Monday:
  • Lorenzo Caldara has been appointed as General Manager for its Philadelphia cluster of radio stations (WFIL 560 AM and WNTP 990 AM). Prior to joining Salem, Lorenzo spent 25 years at WKXW/New Jersey 101.5 News/Talk. Over his tenure, Lorenzo received numerous promotions from Account Executive through the ranks to General Sales Manager, Director of Sales, General Manager, and Vice President/Corporate Director of Sales. Salem Vice President of Operations, Jeff Reisman, commented, “Lorenzo brings a track record of leadership that will be instrumental in growing the Salem Philadelphia radio stations to their full potential. Out of an excellent field of men and women interested in this opportunity, we are convinced Lorenzo is the right leader for this important market.”
  • Kevin Anderson, General Sales Manager of Salem’s Nashville operation, has been promoted to the role of General Manager for the market. His responsibilities will include oversight for the Nashville Fish stations, the Salem Music Networks, and Singing News Magazine and CCMmagazine.com. Anderson has been with Salem since 1995 with most of those years in management positions. Allen Power, Senior VP, said, "Kevin is well known within Salem and with our clients for his energetic pursuit of innovation in revenue production and his passion for the formats and products he oversees. I’m grateful that Kevin’s many years in Nashville have prepared him so well for this new challenge.”
  • Salem has appointed Jamie Cohen to the position of VP Local Digital, responsible for driving local digital revenue growth. Jamie joins Salem from USAToday Network, where he oversaw Digital sales and development efforts in a number of regions. Prior to that, Jamie worked for the Chicago Sun-Times and Journal Media Group, where, in both cases, he was responsible for building the infrastructure for their digital sales operations. Jamie also spent three years at ReachLocal successfully leading multiple sales teams in the mid-west. Dave Santrella, Salem’s President of Broadcast Media, commented, “Providing our clients with multi-dimensional marketing campaigns that include best-in-class digital services is vital to our continued growth. Jamie has the drive and experience to lead that evolution for Salem’s broadcast division, and I’m thrilled to have him joining us in this key position.”
Salem also announced that their National Promotions Department is being re-named / re-branded as Salem Events & Marketing.

In 2013, Salem Media Group launched the National Promotions department to facilitate unique and additional forms of revenue for the radio division primarily through event creation in partnership with local stations. This refocusing strategically positions the department to continue to create and support events for Salem’s owned and operated assets as well as to expand their services by brokering partnerships with other media companies in other cities.

Dan Nelson will expand his role and is newly titled Director, Salem Events and Marketing.

Dave Santrella, Salem’s President of Broadcast Media said, “Like many other broadcasters, events have become a major area for revenue growth. Salem events are unique to the audiences we serve and I am excited at the opportunity to provide those events to like-minded media outlets outside of Salem’s existing markets.”
