Cincy Radio: Tracy Jones OUT At WLW

High-profile Cincinnati radio talk show host Tracy Jones has been laid off by WLW 700 AM.

Tracy Jones, the former Cincinnati Reds outfielder who has co-hosted afternoons on WLW-AM for nearly 10 years, was laid off Friday, Sept. 8 by iHeartMedia. WVXU reporter John Kiesewetter cited "multiple sources."

Jones, 56, was paired with WEBN-FM morning host Eddie Fingers in 2008 to do the "Eddie & Tracy Show," which aired 3-6 p.m. weekdays, after humorist Gary Burbank retired. Jones also did a weekday feature called "Brennaman & Jones on Baseball," a recorded conversation with Reds radio announcer Marty Brennaman that airs twice a day.

According to the Cincinnati Business Journal, Jones, who played six seasons (1986-91) for five Major League Baseball teams, hosted WLW-AM's "Extra Innings" Reds post-game shows on weekends for more than 10 years – and worked as an investment adviser and financial broker – before moving to afternoons.

Talk show host Bill Cunningham on his Monday afternoon show said Jones was let go from WLW-AM in "a corporate decision over which no one (at the station) had any control." Cunningham told listeners the decision to lay off Jones "had nothing to do with Tracy Jones."
