Big Machine, Bell Media To Find The Next 'Pop Superstar'

Nashville's Big Machine Label Group and Toronto-based Bell Media, which owns television and radio stations across Canada, will partner to discover and cultivate the next "pop superstar" across a variety of platforms.

According to The Tennessean, the centerpiece of the new partnership will be a television format that the two companies hope to expand beyond Canada. The arrangement was officially announced in a Monday morning press release.

The deal will put BMLG Founder, President and CEO Scott Borchetta in the thick of another television project. Borchetta coached contestants on the reality singing competition "American Idol" and his company is the label home to music from the television show "Nashville." BMLG is the record label home to Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Thomas Rhett and others.

"Bell Media has a track record of success in live music production, extensive platforms and leading promotion of homegrown talent in many areas," Borchetta said. "Together, our strenghths make us strong partners to lift this global project off the ground."

The goal will be to showcase the talent cultivated through the arrangement on television, radio, recording and live event projects, the press release said.

"Bell Media builds upon its commitment to artist development with this new initiative and with whom better to align than the best in the business, Scott Borchetta," Bell Media President for Broadcasting and Content Randy Lennox said.

Bell Media owns premiere assets in television, radio, out-of-home advertising and digital media.
