Report: Americans Now Big On 'POMO'

Americans are partaking in the 'pleasure of missing out' (POMO) and have been making excuses to skip social functions, a survey claims.

The finding comes from food delivery service Yelp Eat24. Nearly 80 per cent of Americans have given excuses so they wouldn't have to go out, according to the Daily Mail.

An infographic explaining the survey's results showed the top reasons for doing so were 'hate spending money,' 'too tired,' and 'don't wanna be around people.'

It also revealed that 30 per cent of Americans favor chores compared to going out.
The infographic said that the top POMOs were 'sleeping', 'eating', and 'movies and tv'.

Yelp Eat24's survey found that over 16 per cent often come up with excuses for not going out, with 55 per cent sometimes coming up with excuses.

The number-one activity in the study for those not going out was watching movies and television, followed by chilling out and napping, with eating in taking the third spot.

Spending time with a partner, spending time with children, reading, listening to music, chores, having drinks, and playing video games were also in the top ten list of activities.

The food delivery service said that 2,000 people ages 18 to 54 were surveyed in April 2016.
