LI Radio: WBLI To Add Cooper-Lawrence Show

Cox Media Group (CMG) has announced a new morning show to start Monday morning, July 11, 2016 pm Long Island's WBLI 106.1 FM.  The Cooper Lawrence Show, featuring Cooper Lawrence and Anthony Michaels, is ready to bring Long Island “Reality Radio” Real stories. Real people. Real funny.

“We’re excited to have Cooper and Anthony join us here at 106.1 BLI!” said BLI Director of Branding and Programming Jeremy Rice. “We’re looking forward to our listeners getting to know them and having them be a big part of the Long Island community.”

A radio veteran known for her own nationally syndicated show (Dial Global),  Lawrence spent four years co-hosting the Big Show with Scott and Todd from 6 - 10 a.m. on PLJ in New York. Lawrence also worked for WHTZ, KTU and WOR where she produced the Joan Rivers Show. On television, she co-hosted VH1's “Confessions of a Teen Idol” with Scott Baio, spent two years as the relationship expert on The Tyra Banks Show and was one of the original co-hosts of Dish Nation. She is currently an entertainment reporter and writer for SheKnows.com and “Fashion Police” contributor at Us Weekly. “I am beyond excited to join the incredible Cox Media Group family and to represent the legendary call letters, BLI,” said Lawrence. “What a dream come true to work with John Shea, Jeremy Rice, Nancy Cambino, and Steve Smith. How thrilling to do mornings on a powerhouse station that has been such a part of the fabric of long island for so long and in the market where I grew up. More women need to run more morning shows, especially with a primarily female audience. In this vein, once again, BLI and the CMG team prove they are trailblazers who are keenly in touch with their audience. To wake up every day with my partner in crime, Anthony Michaels, and take our show to mornings seems like the perfect culmination of all of our years together. Two words: Game on.”

Michaels is the owner of a Harley Davidson, many tattoos, and is a bass player for a rock band. He has two Gracie Awards, one Crystal Award for best radio show in the country, a Marconi Nomination, a Radio Ink "Program Director" of the year award, and a two-time Greater Media employee of the year award.

“I was born in St. Joseph, Michigan, and in the 5th grade a teacher asked the class what everyone wanted to do when they grew up, and I said, Radio,” added Michaels. “We started our show together over 10 years ago, on the Syndicated Cooper Lawrence Show that was heard on over 140 stations across the country. Now I’m back with Cooper, and we’re looking forward to rocking Long Island!”
